‘We don’t want to create any form of distraction by revealing any figures, but trust me it’s a huge deal, it’s about the biggest deal in the industry at the moment’
The news of Skales and his manager, Osagie getting arrested and detained continues to generate buzz in the industry.
Now, insiders have confirmed to TheNETng that industry veterans Howie T and Dipo Abdul who were unveiled as handlers of Baseline Music in July 2014 stopped working with the label at some point in 2015, which is when problems started for the label.
Both Howie T and Dipo have been unreachable since the news broke yesterday.
Now we track back to what Howie T replied to NET in August 2014 when a reliable source told us his Baseline deal is worth nearly N200m which included a brand new car, a house, cash advance, and upkeep allowance.
In the words of Howie T, ‘I cannot give you any specific figure because we don’t want other artistes to start running to us, however what I can tell you is that the deal is worth hundreds of millions. It includes his new car, new house and total lifestyle package. We are changing his whole lifestyle.
‘Skales will be at the NEA awards in New York at the end of the month, after that he’s going to London for a concert, and then to Canada on a tour, [then] he’ll drop his album in November. So you see it’s a total package, we don’t want to create any form of distraction by revealing any figures, but trust me it’s a huge deal, it’s about the biggest deal in the industry at the moment.’
Howie T is reputed for discovering Africa’s celebrated pop duo, P-Square after they won the Benson and Hedges ‘Grab da Mic’ contest in 2001. He was also their first manager and has previously founded entertainment companies including Adrot Nigeria Limited and Kiss (an entertainment franchise).
