An official who is close to the investigation claims Prince’s death was caused by an overdose.
US music star, Prince died of an opioid overdose, according to a law-enforcement official.
Opioids are a type of narcotic pain medication most often used to relieve pain.
The 57-year-old musician was found dead at his Paisley Park estate in Minneapolis on April 21 and an official who is close to the investigation reportedly claims Prince’s death was caused by an overdose.
Prince won seven Grammy awards during his lifetime, and he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. He was for a minute, a Michael Jackson competitor and his career only stagnated after legal label battles that affected his identity.
However, no cause of death has yet been revealed by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office, which told Entertainment Tonight there is ‘nothing to share at this time.’
It was previously claimed that Prince had been addicted to the painkiller Percocet for years because of problems with his hips and that he had to be given a ‘save shot’ almost a week before his passing after he reportedly overdosed on the highly-addictive drug, which contains acetaminophen and oxycodone
