Barely few weeks from dropping his mighty jam Why On Me? , which has been getting airplay and massive downloads, Nigerian wavy songster Sky D is here on your #1 Entertainment hub with intriguing answers to all your all in question in this short conversation below:
What’s you name?
Elisha Paul Okwuchukwu
What’s your stage name?
What inspired your passion for music and who has been there supporting you from the
My passion for music started while I was in my JSS 1 cause I went to a single sex school,
which we normally do what we call Social Night every Friday/Saturday night and when ever I
present my song every one keep asking for more ..Lol
My Mom has always been supportive from the beginning and I also have a supportive family .
Is music hard?
Umm, I won’t say music is hard or music has been hard for me because it is what I love to do and I do it with so much ease. Instead music could rather be demanding especially when you are trying to build a fresh career. You know everything man does is done with money. You need to promote your songs, shoot videos, make promo Cds, do radio tours and so on. So I think looking at it from that perspective music may be challenging.
Any challenges on releasing your singles?
No clear challenges tho apart from the financial Aspect of it but i think one of the major challenge is what song to put out especially when you have recorded a whole lot of songs. You wanna put out the best which might not be your managers favorite. So you carefully have to select the song to release.
We heard you have a lot of fans, is that right?
Lol, If I get plenty fans wetin make d likes of Rick Ross, Drake, Wizkid or olamide come talk say dem get? But seriously they all started somewhere. Presently I have a fan base am monitoring based on the number of downloads my songs get. And we are almost at 100,000 already. So it’s okay to say I have about 100k loyal listeners / fans. Well I think that’s quite massive for an incoming artiste who runs all of his musical promos without the help of the biggest blogs, sites, radio stations or any record label. Big shout out to King Chidex and the whole Smash9ja team, and every other person supporting one way or the other.
Where do you see yourself five years from now?
I see myself already established, Being someone representing Africa to the fullest, lifting other talented and passionate artistes touching lives with my music, and putting smiles on the faces of everyone who listens to my music. Someone my fans believe in dropping nothing but the best and also being someone the word would be pleased on his kind of music. I think that’s more important than any other thing.
What is your relationship status now? Any baby mama?
Baby mama keh , ummm I’m been in a relationship with my baby for years now and her name is “Music” *Laughs*, well I’m currently Single, moreover, No baby Mama and not expecting any for now .
Do you have any female crush in the industry and why?
Yes, Tiwa Savage has always been my female crush in the music industry cause of her style
of music is actually relative with mine and i hope to get her to jump on my track.
Who have you always dreamt of working with and why?
Wizkid and Kiss Danial cause I love their style of music because they always inspire and motivate me. Buh apart from Wizkid, I would love to work with Burna boy, Tu baba, Davido, Olamide, Skales, and small doctor. Yes small doctor.

1st: Being real
2nd: Believing in my self and my kind of music

that has been my greatest achievement. I’m praying and believing for more .

making Good and Sweet music.
From your experience so far, what have you found to be most challenging? And how are you

The Most challenging moment for me now, is the financial aspect of it, because music has a
lot to do with spending until you get the people’s mind and the only way I can gain it
is by working hard.
From your experience in the entertainment industry what advice could you offer people
looking to get where you are today?
I’m gonna tell you guys to stay real and always be consistent because many are in the field already but few would be chosen . Believe your time is coming and also keep making good music.
